Madera Kitchen

I am always looking for restaurants that have a trendy and fun vibe, especially on the weekends. I knew this would be the place to visit after looking at their website. It's what drew me in. Madera is located in Hollywood, and it's like a hidden gem. It just pops up out of nowhere, and has been around since May 2014. It's only a few blocks away from the main Hollywood scene. It exudes a retro feel from the furniture, decor, colors, and light fixtures. I get so excited with design since I spent four years of my life visiting Pasadena Art Center College of Design. I am just amazed how everything all comes together. When you first walk in, there is a beautiful and spacious patio. I wanted to sit outside, but it was sweltering this past Sunday. So I decided to opt out and sit inside instead. Ambiance plays a huge role in whether you are going to be satisfied. I was pretty happy with DJ Johnny playing some old school Jams that made me want to get up and get my groove on. He is only there every other week. If you want to be sure you get to experience his tunes, then call beforehand and see if he will be there.

Our waiter Joshua was so friendly, which led us to connect right away. I started out by having the Green Dolphin. It's a pretty green drink with Belvedere, lime, basil, and cucumber. Sounds refreshing? It sure was! I wanted to know what the top items are that most people order, and are the most appealing. He recommended the Brussels Frittata, Crab Benedict, Chicken & Waffles and Chilaquiles. I was already sold on the Crab Benedict. Little did he know I love crustaceans. I thought this was the dish I would end up favoring, but I was more pleased with the Brussels Frittata. I liked it because of the the texture. It was condensed with chiffonade brussels leaves, bacon, provalone cheese, arugula, and pesto/romesco sauce. Both sauces are very appealing in flavor, but I truly enjoyed eating the Frittata with the romesco sauce. I felt that it has more of a flair in taste. I had a second cocktail called the Rojia. It only consists of three ingredients (Belvedere, strawberry and rosemary). It's a simple drink with a nice kick to it. My last dish was the Churro Ice-cream. The Churro was perfectly soft and it looked similar to a pastry. It is definitely not your standard churro. You cannot go wrong here and it is a must try.

If you like to have a good time, chill, relax, have drinks, and enjoy food. Then this is the spot to hangout. So go check it out and tell me what you think. Here's the link.
